The left’s new obsession with “affordability” is one of the greatest scams of our era. They spin it as helping regular folks, but let’s cut through the noise: it’s just the latest trick where Democrats buy votes by handing out freebies, then stick the bill to the American taxpayer. These aren’t solutions. They’re band-aids for disasters liberals created with their failed policies in the first place.
Every so-called “affordability” promise coming from progressives reads like a wish list of big government disasters. Politicians want the government to start making drugs directly—because we all know nothing says quality like the DMV running your pharmacy. They want Washington insiders cracking down on grocery stores and pushing more climate rules that only drive prices up. Remember when government meddling in housing led to the mortgage collapse? Liberals sure don’t. Their answer: throw more subsidies at the problem and watch prices soar again. And who really suffers? The middle class, every single time.
The reality is, Democrats don’t care about everyday Americans. Their enemies list is set—big companies, energy innovators, anyone who doesn’t toe the progressive line. Their “friends” are so-called victims, forever trapped by failed leftist policies. Progressives love playing Robin Hood, but it’s just another way to punish success and reward dependency. And they dare call this fairness? It’s class warfare, plain and simple.
Let’s not forget who these experts are. The same people who said highways would destroy America or that the internet was just a fad. Now they want to freeze out innovation with wild efforts like taking a sledgehammer to artificial intelligence. Bernie Sanders and his crowd say they’re defending the little guy, but they’re the first in line for private jets while blocking airline mergers that could have saved jobs. Classic hypocrisy. Liberals always pretend they know best, but history proves them wrong again and again.
America became rich by letting hard work, not government, shape our destiny. The biggest leap in human prosperity came from daring risk-takers, not government handouts. If we let this “affordability” con smother the free market, we’ll choke off the very prosperity that made the American dream possible. Why do Democrats want everyone to be equally miserable, instead of letting us all rise? Maybe the real question is, who really benefits when Washington runs everything but your life?
