Walk through just about any American neighborhood, and you’re bound to spot those classic novelty signs: “Trespassers will be shot”—sometimes with a joke about survivors not faring much better. It’s dark humor, sure, but let’s be honest: there’s a reason these signs have become so popular. The radical left has eroded law and order for years, and every honest citizen knows self-defense is sometimes all you’ve got. People are fed up with criminals thinking property lines don’t matter.
But here’s the dirty secret liberals don’t talk about—posting one of those signs could come back to haunt you. Not because there’s anything wrong with defending what’s yours, but because we all know the justice system isn’t exactly fair if you’re a gun owner. All it takes is one anti-gun prosecutor, hungry for headlines, ready to twist your “funny” sign into “evidence” that you’re itching to shoot someone. Is it a joke? Sure. Will some pencil-pusher in a suit find it funny when you’re in court? Don’t bet on it.
The truth is, a law-abiding American should never have to worry about defending their own home. But thanks to decades of liberal policies that treat criminals like misunderstood victims—and make heroes into villains—regular folks have to think twice about everything. Just look at what happened to guys like Rittenhouse or Zimmerman. Suddenly, crossing a street or putting up a sign makes you a “bad guy” in the media’s eyes—and the prosecutor buys right into the narrative.
What’s even crazier is that these signs might not scare off crooks at all. In fact, they can do the opposite. You advertise you’ve got firearms for self-defense, and suddenly you’re a target—not just for criminals, but for trial lawyers and left-wing activists itching to make you the next scapegoat for “gun violence.” Why hand them that ammunition? The Biden crowd and their globalist pals already want to clamp down on your Second Amendment rights every chance they get. Why give them more ammo?
It’s comical, really. The people who’ve turned American justice into a circus say law-abiding citizens should trust them to “protect” us, all while tying our hands and endangering our freedom. It’s time to stop making their jobs easier. Keep your sense of humor, but don’t give the anti-gun zealots a free pass to attack your rights over a novelty sign. Maybe it’s time to stop playing defense and start demanding they do their jobs for once—and leave decent Americans alone. Who do you trust more: yourself and your neighbors, or a system run by the same people who never miss a chance to make you look like the enemy?
