It’s the same old story out of Washington: another Democrat caught up in a scandal, and the liberal machine rushes to cover it up. This time, it’s Rep. Jim Costa of California—one of Nancy Pelosi’s loyal foot soldiers—who’s under the spotlight. There were serious accusations against him about his conduct with Washington interns. But, as expected, the entire situation was swept quietly under the Capitol’s musty rugs.
If a conservative even sneezed next to an intern, the left-wing media would scream for resignations and make it national news. Just look at how quickly they jump to conclusions when a Republican is accused of anything. But when it’s one of their own? Suddenly, due process matters. The investigation into Costa’s behavior ended, and, like clockwork, the Democrats acted like nothing happened.
The hypocrisy absolutely reeks. These so-called “champions of women” love preaching about protecting the vulnerable until it’s inconvenient for their own power. Apparently, #MeToo only matters if it takes down a political enemy, not if it threatens the good old boys’ liberal club on Capitol Hill.
Let’s not forget—the folks running this country love to lecture regular Americans about “morality” and “respect.” Yet behind closed doors, they protect politicians accused of the very same conduct they claim to despise. The two-faced double standard has never been clearer. The Democrats hold the rulebook, but they toss it in the shredder whenever it applies to them.
How many more skeletons are hiding in the Democratic closet? How many more scandals will be hushed up before the American people finally say enough is enough? Maybe if the left spent less time pointing fingers at conservatives and more time looking in the mirror, we’d all be better off.
