Once again, the Republican establishment shows its weakness. President Trump is right to feel let down by Senate Majority Leader John Thune. We’ve watched for years as Democrats ram through their radical agenda, shredding the Constitution and ignoring the will of everyday Americans. Yet, when Republicans have even a sliver of power, what do they do? Cling to old rules that handcuff the conservative movement.
John Thune had a real shot to make history. If he truly represented the people, he’d have scrapped the filibuster like Trump has demanded. Instead, Thune chose to play nice with liberals who have proved, time and again, they don’t return the favor. It’s almost as if these D.C. insiders are more comfortable losing politely than winning for the American people.
Let’s be honest—Democrats would burn down every rule in the book to get what they want. Why are Republicans so afraid to fight fire with fire? Americans are sick of watching the left rewrite laws, open borders, and attack free speech, while the GOP tiptoes around in fear of offending the D.C. cocktail crowd. Thune’s refusal to act is a slap in the face to Americans who voted for bold, fearless leadership.
The filibuster is a relic, beloved by globalist powerbrokers who hate real change. Keeping it only helps the bureaucrats and career politicians who want to keep the swamp murky. The Republican base is tired of excuses. We want action, not backroom compromises with liberals who despise everything this country stands for.
President Trump may still have some respect for Thune, but grassroots conservatives aren’t feeling so generous. If the GOP won’t stand up now, when will they? How many more chances do these so-called leaders get before real Americans say enough is enough?
