The circus that is California politics truly knows no bounds. Gavin Newsom, king of hypocrisy, is once again wagging his finger at President Trump over oil and gas. Instead of facing up to his own failures at home, he’s pointing across the country and screaming “Big Oil!” every chance he gets. But here’s the dirty little secret: Newsom’s “green” California, the so-called model for the rest of America, is guzzling oil shipped in from the Middle East—over thirty percent of it, in fact. While he rants about pipelines and “abuses of power,” Californians are filling up at the pump with Middle Eastern crude, paying more than anyone else in the nation.
This is liberal incompetence on parade. Newsom and his allies have choked off domestic oil production right in California’s backyard. They shut down pipelines, pile on pointless regulations, and block any chance at energy independence. Then, when gas prices skyrocket—about two dollars higher per gallon than the rest of America—they blame Trump, blame “Big Oil,” and blame everyone but themselves. It’s almost impressive how shameless they are. Instead of tapping into American energy, Newsom is happy to send California’s dollars overseas and keep his voters fuming at the pump.
Let’s be real. Newsom talks a big game about protecting consumers and standing up to “Big Oil.” But when he had the chance to give families a break by suspending the state gas tax, he refused. He claims all that extra money is making California’s roads and bridges the best in the country. Yet anyone who’s ever driven through California knows the truth: those roads are some of the worst in America, filled with potholes and crumbling pavement. So where is all that gas tax actually going?
The Democrats’ answer? More bureaucracy, more red tape, and more excuses. They want to blame every problem—especially high gas prices—on global events and former President Trump. They refuse to accept that their own anti-energy, anti-American policies have a price. And it’s everyday Californians footing the bill. The left’s obsession with foreign oil and hostility to American drilling is driving California right off a cliff.
At the end of the day, this isn’t about the environment. It’s about woke politicians who would rather shake hands with Middle Eastern oil barons than let Americans produce their own energy. Why should California families keep paying the price for Newsom’s globalist fantasies and liberal incompetence? The double standard is glaring—and it’s why the left can’t be trusted with America’s future.
