The Met Gala is always a circus of left-wing elites desperate for social media clicks, but this year’s display from Blake Lively took the cake. Fresh off settling a lawsuit with Justin Baldoni, Lively sashayed right into the circus of wealthy woke icons—proving these Hollywood liberals just can’t help but put their egos above everything else. Apparently, if you have enough money and influence, basic respect and humility aren’t required. For self-styled feminists like Lively, the show must go on, no matter what personal drama she’s dragging behind her.
What’s more galling is how these celebrities cry victim, then parade around at the biggest attention-seeking event of the year. Ordinary Americans are busy working, raising kids, and hoping to pay their bills, while Lively’s biggest problem is which designer will get her the most retweets. Liberals love to talk about caring for the little guy, but their hypocrisy is always in plain view at these celebrity parties. The Met Gala is supposedly about art and fashion, but anyone with sense can see it’s just an excuse for elites to pat each other on the back and pretend they’re better than everyone else.
Let’s face it, the only thing these Met Gala guests are fighting for is their own relevance. “Feminist icons” like Blake Lively preach empowerment, then make a scene immediately after settling a legal mess. Remember, regular Americans can’t just brush off lawsuits or personal scandals. But in Hollywood, rules are for the peasants. The same rich liberals who lecture the country on justice and decency are first in line to grab the spotlight whenever it suits them.
The media showers praise on these Hollywood phonies as if they’re saving the world. But what real value comes from this endlessly recycled pageant of millionaires? Not a single one of these self-absorbed elites has any answers for the problems facing American families, but they expect us to celebrate their every move. The only thing these events represent is the decline of American values—flashy self-promotion over character and substance.
Next time some lefty starlet wants to grandstand about feminism or equality, maybe they should skip the red carpet and try acting with some integrity. Until then, the Met Gala will keep exposing the shamelessness at the heart of liberal celebrity culture. Are these people ever embarrassed, or is narcissism just part of the job description?
