Here’s a shocker: New York wants to force judges to go on a yearly field trip to jails. Supposedly, this will “educate” them about the punishments they hand out. Another feel-good stunt from clueless liberals who think everything can be fixed if we just “walk in someone else’s shoes”—especially if that someone is a criminal.
Legal elites get caught up in sympathy for the lawbreakers, while honest New Yorkers get left behind. That’s the story here. These left-wing policies aren’t about victims or protecting families. It’s a way to soften courts even further, as if our streets aren’t already overrun with repeat offenders—and as if judges aren’t already cutting soft deals that let dangerous people walk free.
Take a look at the people behind these moves. The same politicians coddle criminals, handcuff cops, and act shocked when crime spikes. Now they want judges to “feel bad” about putting someone behind bars? Maybe they should spend more time listening to victims of violent crime instead of feeling sorry for people who wreck communities.
Let’s get real. Jail is supposed to be tough. It’s supposed to be a warning, not a luxury. Maybe if our judges were less worried about how jail feels, and more worried about keeping thugs off the street, New Yorkers wouldn’t be locking their doors during the day. All this talk about “justice reforms” is just more anti-American softness brought to you by politicians who live in gated communities.
If liberals really cared about justice, they’d worry about your grandmother getting mugged—not whether a repeat thief’s bed is firm enough. New York doesn’t need “open-minded” judges who see jail like a spa weekend. We need consequences for crime. Why should law-abiding citizens have to pay the price while bleeding-heart elites play social worker from the safety of their offices? What’s next—judges hosting bake sales for felons?
