Joy Reid sparks outrage blasts July Fourth pushes Juneteenth as real Independence Day

Once again, Joy Reid is front and center in the left’s war on American traditions. After getting booted from her cushy MSNBC gig, she’s now using her podcast to launch another attack on what makes this nation great—the Fourth of July. She’s arguing that Juneteenth is the “real” Independence Day and pushing the tired theme that America isn’t really a democracy until we end every historical injustice. It’s nothing but a cheap attempt to rewrite history and divide the country, all while claiming to speak out for “justice.”

This is the same script the far-left runs every year: tear down, diminish, and replace. Anything to paint America as forever flawed, even evil, never mind the real progress made. Heaven forbid we teach the next generation the truth about what our founders achieved. The founding fathers risked everything to kick out the British Crown and create a free society. Without their courage and vision, slavery would never have come to an end—the union itself wouldn’t even exist for anyone to fight for liberty.

But the professional grievance crowd prefers to ignore all that. They say the Fourth is just about “slaveholders” and taxes. They push Juneteenth not as a celebration of freedom, but as a replacement meant to separate Americans by race and keep resentment alive. It’s woke propaganda disguised as “equity.” Their mission is clear: tear down the national birthday so every American never feels truly proud.

Let’s be honest. The Constitution wasn’t perfect, but our founders set up a system that would eventually abolish slavery—a system that allowed America to heal and become better over time. Compromises were made because the priority was uniting the colonies. Without unity, slavery could have lasted even longer with two separate, weaker nations. The blueprint for liberty was right there from the start, but today’s left pretends otherwise so they can keep cashing in on the politics of outrage.

Maybe Joy Reid should take a minute to realize just how rare her own story is—a black woman free to speak her mind, build an audience, and even trash the country that lets her do so. That’s the very freedom the American Revolution made possible. Maybe the next time she wants to bash Independence Day, she should remember that the only reason she has a platform is because America is exceptional, not because it’s irredeemable.

If the woke left hates this country so much, why are they so desperate to change its holidays instead of leaving it behind? Maybe deep down, they know that there’s still no place on Earth where freedom reigns quite like it does here.
