ICE just picked up Giovanna Mercedes Moreno Occhipinto, an undocumented teacher in Illinois, who was released from jail even though she was wanted in connection with a 2024 mass shooting. That’s right, released, no questions asked, thanks to the open-door mentality of Chicago’s politicians.
Chicago’s leaders didn’t think it was important to tell federal authorities. They just let her walk, giving special protection just because she’s here illegally. If any American citizen helps someone wanted for a violent crime dodge the law, they’d be thrown in jail and called “a threat to public safety.” But when it’s someone the left wants to shield, the rules suddenly change.
