Pennsylvania’s Democrat governor is already out parading the supposed “benefits” of the World Cup coming to the state. $770 million in economic impact, he claims—a number meant to dazzle everyone and distract from the real costs to everyday citizens. Once again, liberals swoon over flashy headlines and global soccer stars, instead of digging into the details and serving the hard-working people who actually live here.
Let’s be honest—whenever you hear a Democrat talking about economic impact, grab your wallet. Liberals love to tout big numbers that sound great on TV, but these projections rarely work out in real life. Stadiums get built, infrastructure is promised, and taxpayers are left with the bill when the party’s over. Who gets rich from all this? It sure isn’t the mom-and-pop shops holding Pennsylvania’s economy together. Most of these windfalls go straight to the pockets of global corporations and fat-cat FIFA bureaucrats.
And isn’t it rich how globalist events like the World Cup are hyped by politicians who claim to care about “working families?” These are the same elites who have outsourced our jobs, chipped away at Main Street, and thrown open our borders. Yet somehow, throwing a bunch of foreign soccer matches in our cities is suddenly a silver bullet for our economy? Liberals keep pushing these spectacles because they’re weak on real job creation. They want TV cameras and Instagram moments, not long-term prosperity.
If Governor Shapiro wants to fix Pennsylvania’s economy, maybe he should start by fighting crime, lowering taxes, and respecting local businesses. Those moves would do a lot more good than putting on a show for global TV executives. The only sure bet with these events is a bigger government tab and more rules shoved down our throats in the name of “security.” And the next time we hear a left-wing politician promise prosperity from a mega-event, we should ask them what happened to all their other empty promises.
The truth is, real economic growth doesn’t come from chasing the approval of global elites or building stadiums for foreign soccer teams. It comes from championing American values, standing up for taxpayers, and putting our own people first. Why is that so hard for liberals to understand?
