NYC Mayor Bans ICE From City Buildings and Tells Police to Stand Down Critics Warn of Chaos

New York liberals are at it again. This time, Mayor Zohran Mamdani is doubling down on his crusade against America’s sovereignty by calling to abolish ICE—the very agency tasked with enforcing our nation’s immigration laws. Instead of focusing on public safety, Mamdani seems more concerned with making sure illegal immigrants feel at home than protecting law-abiding citizens.

During a recent appearance on prime-time television, Mamdani declared that New York should be “proud” to be a sanctuary city. He claimed that ICE is a cruel organization with zero interest in genuine public safety. If you ever needed proof that the left is completely out of touch with reality, look no further than this radical idea. Only in the world of woke politicians does defending the border and keeping criminals off the streets count as “cruel.”

It’s bad enough that New York politicians are already ignoring federal law. Mamdani took things a step further by signing an executive order blocking ICE agents from entering city properties—like schools, shelters, and hospitals—unless they show up with a judge’s warrant. Apparently, protecting illegal immigrants from the law matters more to this mayor than ensuring the safety of children and families. Who cares if criminals slip through the cracks, as long as the left gets to feel righteous about “compassion?”

Mamdani didn’t stop there. He set up city task forces and audits to make sure every agency follows his anti-ICE orders. He’s even told NYPD to keep their hands off civil immigration enforcement. So much for law and order in the Big Apple. Law-abiding New Yorkers are left to fend for themselves while politicians create safe spaces for lawbreakers—and somehow pretend this will make everyone “safer.” This is what happens when globalist, open-borders ideology takes over local government.

The hypocrisy is stunning. The left loves to lecture Americans about “the rule of law,” yet their own leaders go out of their way to undermine it at every turn. Mamdani’s first priority clearly isn’t New Yorkers—it’s appeasing the radical activists who’d rather see the border erased entirely. At this rate, maybe the mayor will roll out the red carpet and invite the cartels in next. When will common sense make a comeback in New York?
