Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson just pulled another fast one on his city, bragging that every government building in Chicago runs on 100 percent clean, renewable energy. Sounds nice, right? Too bad it’s pure fiction. The truth is staring everyone in the face, but Johnson and his liberal pals would rather tell fairy tales than deal with hard facts. Chicago, like the rest of us, gets its electricity from the same grid—one that’s nowhere close to “green.”
This grid is powered mainly by natural gas, nuclear energy, and, yes, even coal. Only a tiny fraction—less than five percent—actually comes from wind or solar. Anyone with access to public records can see that. But facts don’t matter when politicians want to polish their “woke” credentials.
Instead of tackling skyrocketing crime and broken neighborhoods, Johnson spends his days talking about “transfemicide emergencies” and chasing headlines. Last weekend, more than three dozen Chicagoans were shot, and at least six people died. But what does the mayor do? He calls for special proclamations and blames everyone except himself. Meanwhile, criminals roam free, and the city’s taxpayer base keeps shrinking.
Not only has Johnson failed to make Chicago safer, but he gutted tools that actually help police, like the ShotSpotter system that detects gunshots. The results? More gun deaths, more families ripped apart, and more finger-pointing at law-abiding states next door. It’s always somebody else’s fault. Anyone who dares challenge the narrative gets brushed off while the media covers for every blatant lie.
This is how big-city liberals operate: empty promises, sloppy management, and record-high violence, all wrapped up in green slogans and blame games. Maybe if Chicago’s government was as good at running a city as it is at inventing numbers, families wouldn’t be fleeing to the suburbs—or to Wisconsin, for that matter. How much longer will the people of Chicago put up with it?
