Once again, a Texas conservative shows Americans what real leadership looks like. Brandon Gill isn’t afraid to say what every taxpayer is thinking: why on earth are hard-earned dollars being funneled into programs that let people buy sugary drinks and junk food? At a recent hearing, Gill took apart one of the liberal bureaucrats in charge of these wasteful handouts, and it was a sight to see.
The SNAP program was supposed to help struggling families get nutritious food on the table. But under leftist management, it’s turned into a free-for-all where you can swipe your card for candy, sodas, and fattening snacks—on the public dime. While hardworking Americans are scrimping to buy groceries, unelected globalist appointees seem happy to hand out taxpayer money for anything but real food.
Brandon Gill didn’t hold back. Watching him grill the policy director from FRAC was a breath of fresh air in Washington’s swamp. The executive—clearly rattled—could barely justify the system’s broken priorities. Liberals love to talk about health, equity, and fighting “Big Sugar,” but when the receipts show billions spent on junk food, suddenly they have nothing to say. Hypocrisy at its finest.
Americans want accountability, not more bureaucratic nonsense. If welfare programs encourage poor health, they aren’t just wasteful—they’re dangerous. Common sense says taxpayer dollars shouldn’t bankroll the obesity epidemic, especially while Democrats scream about healthcare costs. The same people pushing for more government control can’t even admit their pet programs are setting American families up for heart disease and diabetes.
This is what happens when progressives, who never met a government handout they didn’t love, are given the keys to the kingdom. They pick winners and losers, inflict their twisted priorities on the public, and then run for cover when challenged. Maybe next time, the liberal elite will think twice before defending a broken system. Or maybe they just don’t care—so long as the checks keep going out. At the end of the day, do we want our taxes paying for children to drink more soda, or is it finally time for real oversight in Washington?
