Media Ignores Coast Guard Hero Who Saved 165 While Celebrities Tear Down America

While Hollywood and liberal elites spend their time lecturing America, one brave young man was out risking his own life for others. Scott Ruskan, a 27-year-old Coast Guard rescue swimmer, didn’t waste his last Fourth of July showing off on social media or tearing down the country. No, he jumped into action on his first mission and helped save 165 people at Camp Mystic. This isn’t just heroism—this is the kind of selflessness and courage the left pretends to care about, but never understands.

It’s almost laughable seeing who the media lifts up as “heroes” these days. But here’s a real one: Ruskan didn’t ask what’s in it for him, he simply served. And now, finally, he’ll be recognized with the Pat Tillman Award for Service at the 2026 ESPYS. You have to ask why more Americans like him aren’t honored every day, instead of professional athletes who take a knee during the anthem and demand apologies for being “offended.”

Of course, the legacy media is barely paying attention. They’d rather run puff pieces on celebrities or push the latest globalist narrative than tell the stories of young Americans who get their hands dirty to keep others safe. Liberals and globalists pretend patriotism is outdated. Ruskan proves real American values—faith, grit, sacrifice—are alive and well, no matter how hard the elite try to bury them.

Expect the usual crowd to roll their eyes at an award with Pat Tillman’s name. They forget it honors someone who gave up millions in the NFL to fight for his country. There’s no room for that kind of conviction in their empty culture. They’re too busy policing speech and importing bad ideas to see real bravery standing right in front of them.

Americans need more men like Scott Ruskan and fewer celebrities and activists telling us to feel ashamed of our country. When 165 lives were at stake, an untested Coast Guard swimmer didn’t flinch—he acted. That’s what real service looks like. Funny how that never makes the headlines on liberal networks. Maybe the country would be better off if the left learned to praise a true hero for once—if they even remember what that means.
