Europe’s leaders love to sneer at Americans and pretend they’re so much smarter, so much more advanced, and just so much kinder than the wild cowboys across the Atlantic. But when reality gets hotter—literally—they’re left scrambling. The recent heatwave sweeping Europe isn’t just uncomfortable; it’s lethal. Over 1,300 people have already died because the bureaucrats in Brussels and Paris would rather wage war on air conditioning, all so they can continue to push their precious “climate change” agenda.
Think about that. Europe’s devotion to so-called green policies is quite literally killing people. Every time the temperature rises, thousands die from heat they could easily avoid if only their government wasn’t too busy virtue-signaling about saving the planet. Meanwhile, in America, folks turn down the thermostat, crack open a cold drink, and ride out the heat in comfort. Thank capitalists and innovators, not climate scolds, for that miracle.
The numbers are impossible to ignore. Every summer, the death toll from heat in Europe actually surpasses annual deaths from gun violence in the United States. So while European elites clutch their pearls over American gun laws, maybe they should spend some time explaining why their own citizens are dying at higher rates because they refuse to let people cool off. Maybe those same “progressive” policies they keep bragging about don’t actually save lives after all.
When news hit of the latest deadly heatwave, French citizens stampeded through stores for portable air conditioners and fans. Grown adults were fighting like it was Black Friday in the worst way, just for a chance to survive another scorcher. And yet, European governments have so underinvested in their power grids that even if citizens could all get AC units, the infrastructure simply can’t support it. That’s policy failure, plain and simple—a disaster cooked up in the name of environmental purity while everyday people pay the price.
The lesson is clear: Big government climate hysteria is a luxury for politicians, not for the people they’re supposed to protect. Americans should thank God—and the free market—that comfort and common sense still win out over bureaucratic lunacy. Maybe European leaders should spend less time looking down on the United States and more time letting their people chill out—literally. But don’t hold your breath. After all, nothing sweats like liberal hypocrisy.
