Governor Kathy Hochul loves to pretend she’s the hero of New York, but when it comes to protecting hardworking citizens from the chaos caused by e-bikes, she’s been asleep at the wheel. Major cities across the state—especially New York City—are overwhelmed by reckless e-bike riders who zip through red lights, mow down pedestrians, and create havoc. Yet what have the liberal leaders given us? Weak laws, even weaker enforcement, and endless excuses.
People are getting hurt. Families are afraid to walk the streets. Law-abiding cyclists, the real backbone of our community, are forced to dodge rogue delivery drivers and thrill-seeking teens on machines that blast past speed limits with zero consequences. But instead of action, politicians debate each other in circle after circle, terrified of offending their globalist donors in the tech and gig economy sectors.
Mayor Mamdani has utterly failed to enforce even the most basic safety rules. He’s more worried about scoring points with activists than saving the lives of everyday New Yorkers. Courts shouldn’t have to force action when people’s safety is on the line. Common sense says: if you can’t keep your citizens safe, step aside for someone who can.
If Hochul had any backbone, she’d fix New York’s broken e-bike law immediately. That means real enforcement, strict penalties for bad actors, and clear standards that rein in this out-of-control crisis. But sadly, when liberals are in charge, ordinary folks always come last. They cave to special interests while pretending to care about working families.
What will it take for Hochul and her pals to get serious—another tragedy, another family grieving? New Yorkers deserve more than fake concern and empty promises. Maybe it’s time to ask: are our leaders protecting us, or are they just protecting their donors and their own political hides? Enough is enough.
