Two and a half centuries ago, a group of brave Americans did something the left would never dare today. Thomas Jefferson and his team stood up for freedom, hammered out a bold document, and sparked the birth of the greatest nation on earth. They finished their first draft of the Declaration of Independence—not with cowardly anonymity, but with their names for all to see, risking their lives for the cause. Compare that to today’s liberals, who twist themselves into knots to appease global elitists and social justice mobs.
Imagine if some Ivy League professor or a woke activist tried drafting the Declaration now. They’d probably start with a land acknowledgment, throw in some ramblings about “systemic oppression,” and then water down liberty until it means nothing. Jefferson and his friends looked tyranny in the eye and called it what it was. They didn’t hide behind euphemisms or bow to foreign kings, unlike the modern anti-American crowd constantly apologizing for our country.
The Founders knew that freedom isn’t given from a bureaucrat in D.C. or a talking head on CNN. It’s earned in sweat and sealed with conviction. They dared to dream for a country where the government answers to the people, not to faceless global interests or unelected experts. They didn’t flinch when faced with bullies in red coats—unlike liberals, who flinch when faced with mean tweets.
It’s laughable to see the left today try to “reimagine” America as some utopia of endless grievance and victimhood. They forget that the Declaration was written with firm resolve, not teary-eyed apologies. Our Founders didn’t demand safe spaces. They demanded independence. They didn’t kneel to foreign powers or whine about “privilege.” They built a place where anyone—yes, anyone—with grit and patriotism could succeed.
As our nation hits the 250-year mark since Jefferson and his colleagues finished their historic draft, Americans should ask themselves: Are we honoring their courage, or have we become the lukewarm subjects they fought against? The radical left wants you to forget where we came from. But the truth is: without an unwavering belief in liberty, America wouldn’t exist at all.
