For years, establishment Democrats in Colorado have enjoyed cushy seats, fat war chests, and a media that runs interference for them. But suddenly, their world is upside down. The favorites—like Michael Bennet, who’s been living large on big endorsements and comfortable poll margins—are running scared as their supposed “structural advantages” crumble in real time.
The arrogance of the left is on full display. Just weeks ago, Democrats thought they had their governor’s race in the bag. Now, Bennet’s allies are whispering among themselves, rattled by new polls showing him trailing when no one thought it was possible. There’s no hiding it: regular voters are furious with the limousine liberals who’ve lounged in Washington for decades, lecturing families on how to live while struggling to solve even basic problems. The professional Democrat class is exposed, and voters aren’t buying their empty promises or manufactured outrage at President Trump anymore.
If you think Colorado’s congressional races are safer, think again. Diana DeGette—another creature of the swamp, clinging to power for 30 years—is watching her own political life slip through her fingers. The challenge isn’t from a reasonable moderate, but from a full-throated socialist, Melat Kiros, whose only qualification seems to be wanting to pull the party even further left. Internal polls—ones the public doesn’t usually see—now have DeGette barely holding on, if at all. The panic is real. Desperate Democrat donors and Washington insiders are pouring money into the race at the last minute, trying to patch over decades of neglect. But no one’s sure it’s enough.
Let’s be clear: the Democrats did this to themselves. Voters are sick of out-of-touch politicians who care more about posturing on cable news than fixing Colorado’s real problems. Instead of leading, the left embraced radical ideas, pandered to socialists, and ignored working families who still believe in law and order, personal responsibility, and the American dream. Now, their beloved incumbents are on the chopping block—and their replacements aren’t moderates, but proud socialists.
Just because Denver isn’t New York doesn’t mean it’s immune to the socialist virus infecting Blue America. Democrats keep telling themselves they won’t catch it, but Colorado’s cities have grown younger, angrier, more radical, and more disconnected from the rest of the state. Name recognition and decades in office don’t buy loyalty anymore—not when voters are tired of being controlled by arrogant technocrats and far-left activists.
The lesson for conservatives should be loud and clear: the left will eat itself, and every move toward socialism only proves how unfit today’s Democrats are to lead this country. Colorado might be the latest battleground, but it won’t be the last.
