You won’t believe how NYC’s socialist housing push is bankrupting everyday New Yorkers

New York City is falling down a socialist rabbit hole, and hardworking taxpayers are footing the bill. City councilmembers are actually arguing that their own mayor isn’t “socialist enough”—as if they’re in some kind of ultra-left contest to see who can wreck the economy faster. Leading this circus is Zohran K. Mamdani, the darling of the radical left, who’s rallying for government control of housing in the name of “fairness.” Translation: Mamdani wants to socialize the very roofs over our heads and force everyday New Yorkers to pay for it. How is that fair?

The city is already spiraling toward a crushing fiscal crisis, but these liberals think the answer is more government spending. Billions are being poured into government-run housing schemes pushed by Mamdani and his allies. Guess who’s picking up the tab? Not the bureaucrats. It’s the families in Queens and Brooklyn who are trying to pay their rent and put food on the table, now faced with even higher taxes. The so-called solution is really a punishment for success.

You’d think that with homelessness and crime soaring, the city’s leaders would try the old-fashioned American approach: hard work, free enterprise, and personal responsibility. But no—the left would rather double down on failed socialist experiments. They pile on regulations and freebies, then act shocked when things get worse, not better. It’s the same big-government boondoggle we see in every blue city run into the ground by liberal politicians.

There’s a mountain of hypocrisy here. Globalist elites push these policies while living in their luxury condos, untouched by the crisis their schemes create. They claim to care about the poor, but their socialist fantasies only drive up costs and limit choices for actual New Yorkers. Real people get crushed while the “progressives” throw themselves victory parties.

If New York wants to avoid turning into just another bankrupt, broken city, it’s time to hit the brakes on this socialist insanity. How many billions must be wasted before someone says enough? It’s as if the left has never met a failed idea they didn’t want to try twice—at our expense.
