Mayor Zohran Mamdani and City Council Speaker Julie Menin have pulled a late-night stunt with this year’s city budget. Instead of putting everyday Americans first, they tossed public safety aside like it doesn’t even matter. The left-wing duo acted as if protecting families and keeping the streets safe was just some minor detail they could ignore. Now, New Yorkers get to watch chaos grow while politicians pat themselves on the back.
This budget is a masterclass in liberal fantasy. It refuses to face simple math: You cannot spend more while slashing what matters most. Public safety is now on the chopping block, but somehow progressives think it’s brave to cut the very departments that keep neighborhoods secure. No police, fewer first responders, but more red tape and activist pet projects? That’s the progressive playbook in action.
It’s jaw-dropping how little these city leaders care about hard-working families. They make huge promises about social justice and equity, but when it matters most, their priorities are upside-down. Instead of funding patrols or fortifying the fire department, they’re opening the door to a financial mess. Are they hoping a “cash shortfall” will fix itself if they just ignore it?
The hypocrisy is thick. These so-called leaders claim to stand up for regular people, yet their own budgets make life harder and less safe. Public safety is government’s most basic job—yet these ideologues would rather appease globalist interests and activists than confront crime or protect taxpayers. When reality strikes, they’ll just blame someone else for the fallout.
At the end of the day, this isn’t just backroom politics—it’s a direct attack on the American way of life in our own city. Are New Yorkers supposed to cheer a budget that puts their safety and future at risk? Or has common sense finally left City Hall for good?
