FIFA’s latest stunt proves, once again, exactly why Americans are tired of so-called “global” organizations meddling in the rules to fit their own agenda. News broke that FIFA is giving U.S. soccer star Folarin Balogun the green light to play, even after he was hit with a red-card suspension. Belgium’s soccer leadership isn’t having it, launching a fiery warning and accusing FIFA of breaking their own rules. Who can blame them? When the ref’s wearing the globalist jersey, what chance does the honest player have?
Never mind fairness or following the rules. When it’s time to protect an American player and, by extension, whip up TV ratings, FIFA suddenly gets amnesia about its own policies. The Belgians see this hypocrisy for what it is, and they’re furious. They understand that if the rules don’t apply to everyone, then they don’t really mean anything. This isn’t just a bad look for FIFA—it’s another hit to the idea that these international bodies are anything but political clubs dressed up as sports authorities.
Remember, these organizations are always preaching about integrity and “fair play” while jostling behind the scenes to serve their special interests. The second their pet countries or superstar players are threatened, the so-called impartial arbiters become shameless partisans. It’s the same double standard we see from liberals: lots of talk about fairness, but none of it applies when their side is on the line.
The Belgian Association hit back hard, warning that this decision opens the door to all kinds of future responses. You can bet they aren’t the only ones noticing. All over the world, fans and smaller countries see the writing on the wall. If you’re not in the “in crowd,” don’t expect justice. The game’s rigged for the global elites—and now, apparently, their favorite American athletes.
FIFA has proven, once again, that their rulebook is just a prop. They’ll toss it aside the moment it’s inconvenient. For hardworking teams who play by the rules, it’s a slap in the face. For defenders of common sense and genuine competition, it’s just more evidence that the so-called “international community” is rotten at its core. So if they can break their own rules at the biggest stage, why should we trust them on anything—sports or otherwise?
