California secretly gives away prime coastline for free taxpayers shut out as elites cash in

California’s politicians are at it again, putting woke virtue-signaling above the interests of everyday citizens. This time, they handed over a massive 136 acres of valuable Mendocino coastline — and get this, they did it for free. No public vote. No money exchanging hands. The state just gave it away, caving to a narrow special interest while ignoring taxpayers who actually pay the bills.

This was land meant for everyone. California’s coast is a treasure, not a playground for the politically connected. Regular folks should be able to walk those beaches, hike those trails, and soak up natural beauty that supposedly belongs to the people. Now, thanks to left-wing bureaucrats, three tribal groups own this stretch of prime oceanfront. What sounds like “reparations” in a press release is really just another government power grab, dressed up as social justice.

Liberals love to talk about “equity” — unless it means equity for the actual public. Californians weren’t asked if they wanted this deal. No compensation. No real debate. Local residents lost out, while politicians in Sacramento scored virtue points for their next campaign. It’s the same pattern: a slick PR spin to sell a backroom deal, while taxpayers get nothing and lose access to what was once common ground.

Who wins here? Certainly not families looking for a day at the beach, or hikers eager to explore the coast. The winners are a tiny, hand-picked nonprofit and a political class eager to pat themselves on the back. Meanwhile, everyday citizens see more of their rights taken away, piece by piece, by coastal elites who claim to know what’s best for “the people” but never actually listen to them.

California’s ruling party loves to talk about fairness and inclusion. But once again, they picked winners and losers — and the losers are regular Americans. When will the state put the public first and stop bending over backwards for every leftist fad? Or has California given up any pretense of representing the people who live and work here? Maybe it’s time voters start demanding the return of common sense before everything’s given away for nothing.
