The real reason the far left hates Israel revealed how capitalism crushed the socialist dream

It’s no wonder the Democratic Socialists of America foam at the mouth whenever Israel’s name comes up. Forget the tired talking points about “apartheid” and “colonialism.” The real reason the far left despises Israel? Israel shattered their favorite socialist fairy tale. This tiny nation, founded by socialists and built on collective farming, ditched the broken promises of socialism and embraced the free market. Israel didn’t just survive—it soared.

Look at the facts that the left tries so hard to ignore. Israel’s early years were all about big government. Centralized planning. State-run everything. At first, it seemed to work—workers had jobs, immigrants streamed in, and the welfare state ran the show. But soon, the cracks appeared. By the 1980s, Israel’s socialist experiment was a mess: runaway inflation, bloated deficits, a state teetering on disaster. Socialism didn’t deliver equality and abundance. It delivered chaos and misery.

That all changed when free-market reforms took over. Leaders with backbone slashed taxes, sold off state-run money pits, capped spending, and unleashed the power of private enterprise. The tech boom exploded. Startups flourished. Israel became the so-called “Start-Up Nation”—a global leader in innovation. Growth surged. Unemployment dropped. Suddenly, Israel’s economy outpaced much of Europe’s. Capitalism didn’t just help. It saved the country.

Here lies the left’s greatest embarrassment. Israel proves, in real life, that socialism fails and capitalism works—even in a country literally built by socialists. No wonder DSA activists twist themselves in knots to call Israel every name in the book. Their entire worldview hinges on the myth that capitalism is evil and socialism is salvation. Yet here is Israel, a walking, thriving example that throws those myths into the trash. Israel’s willingness to abandon failed socialist dogma, even under constant threat, paved the way for real prosperity and freedom.

And the so-called “progressives” can’t stand it. That’s why they smear Israel with phony charges and rewrite history. They try to erase the Jewish people’s ancient roots in their own land. They scream about injustice while ignoring Israel’s vibrant, multi-ethnic democracy—where Arab citizens vote, hold office, and serve at every level of government. Meanwhile, the left props up regimes that embrace real oppression—all while demonizing the one nation in the Middle East that actually lives its values.

The lesson is crystal clear: Israel succeeded not because of socialism, but in spite of it. When socialism left Israelis poor, capitalism made them prosper. The left hates Israel not just for surviving—but for exposing the left’s failed, jealous fantasies. How many more countries will have to torch socialism before the left finally admits the truth?
