Donald Trump just landed in Turkey for the NATO summit, and once again, he’s the only adult in the room. While the global elites sip champagne and pat each other on the back, Trump is calling out NATO countries for freeloading off the American taxpayer. For years, the United States has shelled out billions to protect Europe while our “allies” keep their wallets firmly closed. This isn’t some empty talking point. It’s an old, festering problem that gutless politicians on both sides have refused to fix.
The so-called “alliance” is supposed to be about shared responsibility. Guess what? The responsibility has been very one-sided—America pays, Europe plays. While socialists in Brussels hand out government freebies and lecture us about “unity,” our troops and dollars do the heavy lifting. Trump sees through the excuses. He demands that European leaders finally step up and pay their fair share instead of hiding behind America’s military might. If that offends globalist sensibilities, tough. National security comes first.
But Trump isn’t just talking about money. There’s a new front in the world’s power struggle—way up in the Arctic. Liberals scoffed when Trump brought up Greenland, sneering that it sounded like a joke. Fact is, control over Greenland is no laughing matter. With melting ice opening new routes and China and Russia eyeing the region, ignoring Greenland’s strategic importance is pure negligence. Trump actually sees the chessboard. Liberals pretend the game doesn’t even exist.
Progressive pundits love to mock any suggestion that America should have a say in the Arctic. They’d rather bow to environmental activists and foreign bureaucrats. But while they’re chasing windmills, enemies like China and Russia are moving pieces for the next global conflict. Trump’s interest in Greenland is a wake-up call to Americans: we can lead, or we can watch the world slip out from under us.
Let’s face it—liberals dream of a “borderless” world, but they never want to pay the bill. They scoff at tough talk, but collapse when enemies get serious. Trump gets it. He isn’t afraid to ruffle feathers, because he knows America’s security is worth fighting for. Maybe it’s time the cocktail crowd in Brussels grew a backbone—or finally admitted they’ve been hiding behind ours all along.
If European freeloaders and left-wing bureaucrats want our shield, maybe they should start paying the price. Or should America just stick around forever while they keep ducking the check?
