Brooklyn union boss busted after stealing 290K from teachers while preaching fairness

It’s always the ones screaming “solidarity” who turn out to be cashing in on the little guy. Here’s the latest from the sordid world of union leadership: a longtime president of a college teacher’s union has pleaded guilty to swiping nearly $300,000 from his own members. That’s right—Kye Carbone ran the United Federation of College Teachers Local 1460 at Pratt Institute for over a decade, and all the while, he was siphoning off union money to pay for fancy dinners, trips, and his own personal bills. Talk about looking out for “working people.”

This is what happens when unchecked power is handed to union bosses in leftwing strongholds like Brooklyn. The same liberals who want to expand union control over every industry can’t even make sure their own leaders aren’t treating union dues like a personal piggy bank. Remember, union members, that’s your hard-earned money—gobbled up so the boss can enjoy the high life while preaching about “fairness.”

Democrats and their media friends love to paint unions as the saviors of the American worker. But what we really see, time and time again, is that these organizations act like their own little kingdoms, with no accountability. How many more headlines do we need about arrogant union leaders caught red-handed before the left admits their system is broken? Worse yet, when they’re caught, liberals suddenly go silent—where’s the outrage and protest when the crook is wearing the right political colors?

Thankfully, this man finally got booted from office and now faces prison time. But how long did it go on? For well over a decade, he bled those he was supposed to help—and not one watchdog in the union ranks blew the whistle. That’s what the radical left wants more of: more power for big labor, less oversight, and complete disdain for taxpayers and everyday workers. Is it any wonder regular Americans no longer trust these so-called “institutions”?

If Americans want honest leadership, we need to keep shining a light on the decades-old corruption baked into union politics—especially in the deep blue cities where Democrats bend over backward to shield their cronies. The left can keep pretending it’s just a few “bad apples.” But the rest of us see clearly: when you let foxes guard the henhouse, don’t be surprised when the eggs start disappearing.
