When government throws money around like candy, you can bet there will be plenty of greedy hands ready to grab it. The latest example? A New Hampshire casino owner just pleaded guilty to pocketing over $250,000 in cash that was meant for struggling businesses during COVID-19. While hardworking Americans were locked down, told to close up shop, and forced to beg the government for a lifeline, some slick operator saw an opportunity to cash in for himself.
This isn’t just some petty theft, either. The man managed to score a whopping $844,000 through so-called “relief” programs—programs that Democrats loved to champion as if they were the saviors of the American economy. What did he do with that mountain of taxpayer money? Did he keep staff employed or help his business survive the artificial shutdowns forced by government overreach? Not a chance. Instead, he splurged on luxury—for instance, dropping nearly $50,000 on a Porsche. Meanwhile, real small businesses were left holding empty bags.
Liberals love to talk about “compassionate” spending and “helping the little guy.” Yet, the more federal money flows, the more fraudsters crawl out of the woodwork. Washington’s blank checks always come with strings attached—and scandals, too. How many cases like this slipped through the cracks while the IRS and FBI were busy chasing down parents at school board meetings or grilling ordinary Americans over a Venmo side hustle?
Federal bureaucrats have finally set up a whole new division just to track down this rampant fraud—before the ink is even dry on the latest rounds of “relief.” If you need a special task force to hunt down all the theft, maybe the real problem is a government too big to mind its own store. Yet, politicians keep demanding more control over our wallets and lives, promising that only THEY can protect us—and then oversee this kind of waste and abuse.
While the Biden administration spent years treating every taxpayer as a potential suspect, it turns out the real crooks were those taking advantage of bloated government giveaways all along. And that’s just the ones who got caught! If this is how federal “relief” is managed, why should anyone trust D.C. with even more power, more spending, or more control?
America doesn’t need another government task force. It needs a government that knows how to actually serve the people—and stops handing out cash to crooks. The question should never be how much money Washington can dump on a problem, but how fast Americans can take that power back. Think about that the next time politicians push emergency spending and promise there’s “no time for oversight.” If this is their idea of good stewardship, maybe it’s time to deal them out of the game for good.
