There was a time when sportswriters actually cared about the game. They’d give you the stats, tell you who made the winning play, maybe even tip you off about an up-and-coming quarterback. Now? It’s endless whining about politics. Just look at the cries over the Dodgers visiting the White House. One of these left-leaning sports journalists pitched a fit, acting like it was some huge insult to Dodgers fans. Where was this concern when the Dodgers paraded anti-Christian performers in front of families? Nowhere to be found.
The truth is simple—most Americans don’t lose sleep over which team visits the White House. They’re just happy their team won. But the liberal media class obsesses over every little thing Trump or his supporters do, searching for outrage where none exists. They’d rather shame players who show faith or patriotism, while turning a blind eye to actual insults against their own fanbase. There’s no consistency. It’s about pushing the agenda, not protecting sports.
It’s no wonder sports ratings keep tanking. Hollywood and ESPN keep ramming politics down everyone’s throats and wonder why nobody’s tuning in. Regular folks just want a break from the insanity. They want a night out with family, not a lecture from some woke activist in a press box.
Liberals can’t help themselves. To them, everything must be political—even America’s pastime. If an athlete dares to support faith or the First Amendment, it becomes a national scandal. But throw in a divisive, anti-American sideshow and it’s all applause from the peanut gallery. Funny how there’s never any columns about that.
Most Dodgers fans, and most Americans, have had enough. They put politics behind them, enjoying the game for what it is—a game. Maybe if the left stopped obsessing over every gesture, more fans would feel safe turning on the channel again. Until then, maybe it’s time these bitter sportswriters learned how to deal with winning and losing, just like the athletes they pretend to cover. Who knew the real crybabies weren’t on the field, but in the newsroom?
