For years, Democrats and their socialist friends have hammered away at the same tired line: capitalism has failed. They moan about greedy corporations and unfair profits, painting the free market as the villain behind every kitchen-table problem. But the facts—real numbers, not the fairy tales from leftist think tanks—tell a completely different story they desperately hope you’ll never see.
Take a hard look at the numbers since the year 2000. The sectors Americans struggle most to afford—healthcare, housing, college tuition—all have the same ugly fingerprint smeared across them: government meddling. Hospital costs are up nearly 300 percent. Childcare has skyrocketed. College tuition has practically tripled. Why? Because each of these sectors is smothered in layers of regulation, subsidies, and “helpful” government programs that drive prices up and quality down.
Meanwhile, the everyday goods politicians love to sneer at—TVs, phones, software, toys—the prices just keep falling, and the products keep getting better. Why? Because government left them alone. Free markets, not bureaucrats, gave Americans newer, better, cheaper products, year after year. No focus groups, no “woke” oversight panels, just innovation and competition.
Yet every election cycle, Democrats trot out the same old playbook: more regulation, more subsidies, more of the poison that’s already killing the middle class. If the solution for expensive healthcare is more government, why has every new program only made it costlier? If government “help” makes college affordable, why do the loans pile up and tuition goes through the roof? The only answer: Leftist policies make promises to Americans they have no intention of keeping. Their aim is to gather votes, not fix the system.
It’s the same globalist thinking that turned Europe into a museum—full of beautiful old buildings and empty factories because socialist “solutions” drove out innovation and prosperity. America doesn’t need to import that failure. This chart, this avalanche of data, leaves no doubt. It’s not capitalism that’s gouging American families; it’s the big, bumbling hand of government and the arrogant politicians pushing it deeper into our lives.
Democrats broke these markets. Now they want to take even more control to “fix” them. At what point do we stop handing the keys to the same reckless driver who crashed the car? Americans deserve better. The numbers are clear—and so is the verdict. The problem isn’t the free market. It’s the left’s endless appetite for power, and their complete disregard for the everyday people they pretend to champion.
