It’s laughable how quickly the Left grabs their fainting couches whenever one of their own steps into the real world and faces a challenge. Case in point: Rep. Ro Khanna, who strutted into the West Bank with a press entourage, itching for a made-for-TV moment. The man gets delayed by Israeli settlers, and suddenly it’s the world’s biggest injustice—cue dramatic hand-wringing and moral lectures. You’d think a congressman would have thicker skin, but apparently being inconvenienced for an hour is his definition of “powerlessness.” Give us all a break.
Let’s be real—Khanna didn’t dash off to a war-torn area because he cares so deeply about Palestinian suffering. He went to manufacture outrage for his progressive followers and manufacture campaign material for his rumored presidential run. The fact that he turned a roadside spat into an “apartheid” screed says everything about how the radical Left shamelessly weaponizes every minor incident to bash Israel. If an armed group genuinely wanted him gone, we wouldn’t be reading his whiny press releases. Instead, he spun his little episode into a virtue-signaling monologue about “brownness” and “inequality,” proving once again: everything is a campaign stop for these folks.
He’s playing to a crowd that has already decided Israel is the bad guy, ignoring reality and historical facts. Israeli Arabs have the same voting rights as Jews. Arabs serve in Parliament. They’re on the Supreme Court. They run giant tech companies and are even eligible to be president or prime minister. But liberals like Khanna can’t resist smearing Israel as some kind of modern-day South Africa, even though anyone who has actually studied history knows that’s nonsense. They throw around “apartheid” because it’s a buzzword that gets retweets, not because it means anything in this context.
And why was Khanna there at all? Of course, the answer is simple: the progressive Left is desperate for Palestine photo-ops. For decades, American politicians visited Israel to show support for our closest Middle East ally. Now, the new breed of Democrats wants selfies in “destroyed villages” so they can blame Israel for every regional mess. Give it a rest. Maybe focus on solving the chaos here at home before flying overseas to scold democracies for protecting themselves.
At the end of the day, guys like Ro Khanna are only powerless because they choose to paint themselves that way. They want Americans to turn against Israel—to gin up anger that helps their own political ambitions. Meanwhile, regular Americans see through the drama. Maybe if these liberal politicians spent as much time standing up for their own country as they do tearing down our allies, we’d see some real progress. Then again—would the Left even recognize real oppression if it didn’t fit their narrative?
