Los Angeles public schools are crashing and burning, and there’s no one to blame but their own radical leaders. Years of reckless spending and virtue signaling—the kind progressives love to call “investing in the future”—has left LA Unified School District on the verge of losing control over its own budget. And now, the adults in the room finally have to step in. This is what happens when you ignore warnings and double down on failed liberal ideas.
LAUSD officials got a taste of humiliation when they were told they have just 45 days to convince the county they can even count their own money. It’s about time. For too long, these educational elites have treated tax dollars like Monopoly money. They keep throwing cash at bloated programs, more bureaucracy, and failed “equity” initiatives while refusing to make tough choices. The results? Sky-high costs, crumbling classrooms, and students who can’t even read or add.
Instead of prioritizing academics and making sure parents have a voice, LA’s schools bent over backwards to please bottomless activist demands and globalist fads. Diversity czars and “safe space” consultants get big paydays. Politicians promise the moon—but when the check comes, they can’t cover the bill. Meanwhile, hard-working families are trapped in a system where failure is the norm, not the exception.
Let’s call it what it is: Liberal mismanagement disguised as compassion. The only “equity” LAUSD achieved is spreading disappointment equally to every student. Conservatives have warned for years that this soft bigotry of low expectations was going to bankrupt the system—morally and financially. Now, with fiscal oversight breathing down their necks, these bureaucrats look shocked that anyone expects them to answer for their mess.
This disaster was not an accident. It’s the predictable collapse that happens when you let radical ideology guide education instead of common sense. Maybe if LA’s school leaders cared about kids and taxpayers as much as they pander to the woke agenda, they wouldn’t be teetering at the edge of disaster. The bills are due at LAUSD, but will the liberals who ran up the tab ever admit they were wrong? Don’t count on it.
