San Francisco always loves to boast about its “progressive values.” But once again, Democrats have shown what those values really mean—turning a blind eye to the worst kinds of behavior until it gets too embarrassing to ignore. This time, a candidate trying to land a seat on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors stands accused of some very disturbing “hands-on” tactics at a party. Only after public pressure did their own high-profile supporters finally start jumping ship.
Manny Yekutiel, owner of the famous Manny’s Café, has made a career out of rubbing elbows with the Democratic elite. He’s hosted everyone from Kamala Harris to Gavin Newsom at his establishment. But it looks like rubbing elbows wasn’t the only thing going on. One local activist claims Yekutiel grabbed him in a way that most people would call criminal—and not even subtle about it. The alleged victim says he was physically assaulted and humiliated at a party, right in the middle of San Francisco’s holier-than-thou liberal class.
Of course, Yekutiel denies everything. And the city’s police—shockingly—couldn’t seem to find a reason to charge him. That’s typical in places like San Francisco, where the right connections can make allegations suddenly disappear. Progressives always talk about “believing all victims” and holding people accountable, unless the accused is one of their own. It’s the same double standard we see every election cycle: the rich and powerful get away with anything if they push the right agenda.
It’s also no surprise that top Democrats were cozy with Yekutiel right up until the scandal made headlines. Then, as soon as their PR teams told them things looked bad, endorsements disappeared. Nothing says “principled leadership” like running away when things get tough—or when your own camp gets caught being exactly what they accuse others of being.
While the city’s so-called leaders fight over who’s the most “woke,” the people of San Francisco are left wondering if any of them actually care about common decency. Instead of fixing real issues—crime, drug abuse, crumbling streets—they’re busy covering for insider friends and playing political games. When does it end? Maybe when voters finally stop believing the tired old liberal song and dance, and start demanding real accountability from the folks in charge.
