Senator Jim Banks is stepping up where the Supreme Court and weak-kneed politicians have failed. Americans have watched for years as the left tramples our borders and hands out citizenship to the children of lawbreakers and so-called “birth tourists.” While the courts just shot down President Trump’s executive order to end this madness, Banks has taken decisive action—introducing a bill that would finally put Trump’s America First immigration vision into the law.
The so-called “birthright citizenship” loophole lets people cross our border illegally and, with the snap of a finger, make their children American citizens. It’s one of the biggest invitations to world-wide abuse. Career politicians and open-border activists pretend that anyone who arrives, no matter how, deserves the full rights of American citizenship. When Trump acted to stop it, the usual liberal mobs—lawyers, activist judges, and swampy bureaucrats—rushed in to tie his hands. But Banks sees the writing on the wall: real Americans are sick of being taken advantage of, and it’s time for Congress to act.
Banks’ bill is a direct shot back at the radical left’s open-borders agenda. It slams the door in the face of birth tourism and illegal migration schemes. The bill makes it simple: sneak into our country to have a baby, and that child is not automatically a citizen. This is nothing less than common sense. No other country hands out citizenship like candy to the children of people who broke the law just to get here. Only D.C. elites and their globalist pals think America should be the world’s daycare—and the rest of us pay the price.
Of course, the predictable opponents have already started whining. Anti-Trump Republicans and Democrat apologists are crying that this takes a constitutional amendment. These are the same people who caved to the left for decades, letting our borders become a joke. They love to hide behind fancy legal arguments when it’s convenient but ignore the Constitution when it stands in the way of their socialist dreams. Meanwhile, most Americans are left wondering: if our laws don’t protect American citizenship, what does?
Republicans in the Senate now face a crucial moment. Do they stand with the American people and put an end to this border scam, or do they side with the globalists and progressive activists who see our citizenship as nothing special? The choice should be obvious. If they can’t get this done, voters will remember exactly who to blame. The only real question is: will Washington finally fight for real Americans, or will they keep selling us out for the sake of political correctness?
