Scott Jennings didn’t just expose the Left’s anti-Trump paranoia last year—he handed them a reality check they’re still trying to spin their way out of. These so-called “experts” like Touré and campaign talking heads actually claimed that President Trump’s plan to make government lean and efficient was really some kind of plot to create a dictatorship. The mental gymnastics are almost impressive, if you ignore how embarrassing it is.
Let’s get real. These liberal commentators see boogeymen behind every Trump decision they don’t like. Touré whined about shrinking government, as if cutting fat and holding bureaucrats accountable is dangerous. Funny how the Left suddenly loves “the bureaucracy” when it serves their agenda, but wants government gutted when conservatives are in charge. When Jennings pointed out that Trump, as President, actually runs the executive branch, the Leftists instantly switched scripts. First they claim Trump is plotting a coup, then flip to crying that he’s wielding too much power when all he’s doing is what the Constitution mandates for a president.
It’s classic Leftist hypocrisy: when Obama ballooned executive power, these same folks cheered him on. But once a Republican gets in the driver’s seat, they screech that it’s “authoritarian.” It’s whiplash logic—and Jennings wasn’t afraid to say so. He reminded everyone that the American people voted for Trump, and that’s how democracy works. But apparently, to the Left, democracy only counts when they’re the winners.
Let’s also point out the dangerous game liberals play by insisting unelected bureaucrats should override or “resist” the President. That’s not democracy. That’s the deep state flexing its muscles, arrogantly believing it answers to nobody—not the voters, not the laws, not even the Constitution. Imagine the outrage if conservatives called for the bureaucracy to sabotage a Democrat. You’d never hear the end of it.
When pressed to explain how exactly Trump was “shredding the Constitution,” the Left could only laugh nervously and blurt out more odds and ends about the FBI, the military, and supposed media “silencing.” No evidence, just endless fearmongering. Typical. It’s easier for them to invent dystopian scenarios than admit they simply hate Trump’s America First vision.
One thing is clear: liberals care more about protecting their web of unelected power than respecting the results of a free election. That, right there, is the real threat to our Republic. Maybe the next time a left-wing pundit panics about Trump “taking over,” someone should hand them a mirror.
