Texas is finally stepping up to do what the open-borders crowd in Washington refuses to: put an end to the corrupt scheme of birth tourism. For too long, hospitals along the southern border have been rolling out the red carpet for foreign nationals who cross the line just in time to deliver a baby—and walk away with an automatic American citizen. Now, thanks to some much-needed backbone from Texas leadership, this scam is getting dragged into the harsh sunlight.
Two Texas hospitals are under fire after being investigated for running what can only be called citizenship-for-sale operations. It wasn’t a secret—it was advertised on a giant billboard right across the border. They actually promoted “birth packages” to expectant mothers in Mexico, encouraging people to game our system, have their baby on American soil, and exploit the failed policy of birthright citizenship. How many more hospitals have been quietly doing the same thing, pocketing cash while foreign nationals line up to snag a U.S. passport for their newborns?
Let’s be real. This is exactly what America looks like when globalist interests and weak liberal politicians ignore our broken borders. While Democrats wring their hands about “compassion,” they enable schemes that threaten the very meaning of citizenship. Instead of protecting Americans or the integrity of our Constitution, they cater to anyone who can game the system, no matter the cost to taxpayers or national security.
Governor Abbott and Attorney General Paxton aren’t afraid to go after these cheaters. They’re using the full power of the state to hold hospitals accountable. And yet, predictably, the left acts outraged whenever someone tries to enforce the basics of sovereignty. When these pro-birth tourism billboards went viral, the media turned the story into a circus—never mind the fact that this fraud drains resources from hard-working Texans and makes a mockery of the rule of law.
President Trump tried to end this madness years ago, but liberal judges and radical activists have fought every step of the way to protect the loophole. Meanwhile, Texas has had to step in time and again to fight lawsuits and shut down these birth tourism mills. You’ll never hear Democrats admit it’s a problem, because chaos at the border fills their future voter rolls—American citizenship sold off to the highest bidder.
The real question is this: How much longer will patriotic Americans have to clean up the mess created by cowardly, open-borders politicians? Maybe it’s time the rest of the country follows Texas’s lead and starts fighting back.
