U.S. citizens who were tortured by Venezuela’s socialist strongman, Nicolás Maduro, finally got justice. They’re about to get a massive payout in court—something that rarely happens for American victims of foreign thugs.
Let’s be very clear: Maduro is not some misunderstood leader fighting for “the people.” His regime is a full-blown criminal syndicate, notorious for crushing dissent and jailing Americans on trumped-up charges. These hostages suffered horrific torture because they stood up to a socialist dictator. But the left rarely calls out these abuses. Why? Because liberals love talking about “democracy” and “human rights,” unless it means criticizing socialism.
While Democrats clutch their pearls over mean tweets and phony “threats to democracy” at home, they turn a blind eye to real torture and oppression abroad—especially from their fellow leftists in places like Venezuela. The globalist elites would rather placate tyrants than stand up for our citizens. If this court victory depended on the spineless Biden administration, those U.S. victims would still be rotting in some filthy Venezuelan cell.
Yet while Americans celebrate justice, international socialists and their media lapdogs want everyone to forget about the criminal nature of these regimes. The liberals in Washington have never met a left-wing dictator they didn’t want to appease. We saw the same cowardice when Obama lifted sanctions and cozied up to Cuba. Are they ashamed? Not one bit.
It took an American judge—not the State Department, not the United Nations, not Joe Biden—to make Maduro pay up. Maybe this is a wake-up call. Maybe Americans will start asking why it always takes a fight to get justice for our citizens—and why the loudest “human rights defenders” never want to talk about leftist brutality around the world.
