Hollywood keeps pushing “diversity” and “equity” like a bad sequel nobody asked for. It’s about time someone called them out for mangling classics. Andy Serkis, known for playing Gollum in the Lord of the Rings films, just dropped a bombshell: the new Tolkien adaptation, “The Hunt for Gollum,” will actually honor J.R.R. Tolkien instead of handing the script over to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion mob. That’s right. Instead of bowing to woke nonsense, Serkis wants to stick to the story that fans love.
Let’s be clear. For years, globalist studio heads have tried to hijack beloved stories, stuffing them with every left-wing cause they can think of. They can’t resist the urge to shoehorn in modern political agendas, whether or not they belong. Tolkien’s work is a masterpiece. It doesn’t need to be “fixed,” “improved,” or “rewritten” by activists. Middle Earth isn’t meant to be another battleground for identity politics. It’s refreshing—no, it’s revolutionary—for someone to finally put the source material first.
And yet, liberals can’t help but whine the minute their favorite buzzwords aren’t mentioned. They act like loyalty to the original stories is some kind of crime, as if it’s “racist” or “outdated” to respect a writer’s vision. That’s nonsense. The only thing “outdated” here is the left’s obsession with quotas and woke box-checking. Maybe if liberal Hollywood bosses actually focused on telling good stories, fewer movies would bomb at the box office.
It’s about more than just entertainment. This is a battle for our culture. If every work of art gets remade to fit modern “sensibilities,” where does it end? Do we need a “diverse,” “inclusive” version of the Constitution next? Classic stories, like classic values, don’t need to be bent to fit the narrative of the moment. They’re supposed to stand the test of time. Andy Serkis gets it—and so do millions of fans who are sick of being lectured every time they go to the movies.
When will Hollywood realize that true creativity comes from respecting what made classics great in the first place—not twisting them to fit whatever the globalist agenda demands? Maybe “The Hunt for Gollum” will finally remind America what real storytelling looks like. Is it too much to ask that our favorites stay true to themselves, instead of being hijacked by woke nonsense?
