Biden finally cracks down on deadly drug cartels but is it too little too late for America

The federal government finally took a step in the right direction by slapping the “foreign terrorist organization” label on two more Mexican drug cartels. It’s about time. These violent thugs have been terrorizing Americans for years. Their poison flows over our open southern border, destroying families with drugs and trafficking. Yet, Washington has dragged its feet, treating this crisis like it’s some distant problem rather than an all-out invasion of our country.

This new label should mean U.S. authorities can go after these cartel monsters much harder. It gives the law real teeth. But let’s be honest—none of this would even be necessary if the border was actually secure. Decades of soft, liberal policies have made a playground for criminals just south of us. Cartels love our weak enforcement and endless loopholes. And who makes excuses for them? Out-of-touch bureaucrats and globalist elites who’d rather virtue signal than protect American lives.

The left is quick to cry about “compassion” and “opportunity” while they look the other way as cartels get richer and families get shattered. How many warnings do they need? Every fentanyl tragedy is a direct result of policies that benefit criminals, not citizens. The Democrats may pretend to care about the vulnerable, but their open-border nonsense paints a target right on our backs.

Washington is always late to the fight—finally adding these cartels to the terrorist list like it’s some bold new idea. Meanwhile, these organizations have been wreaking havoc, sending their murderers and traffickers to our streets, importing crime by the truckload. Where was the urgency when the deaths started piling up, or when cartel violence began spilling across the border?

Enough pretending. The only way to protect Americans is to crack down on these groups—hard. Labels are a start, but they’re not the finish line. It’s time for the government to stop bowing to global interests and liberal whining, and actually take a stand for the safety of real Americans. When will the White House finally put America first, and not the criminals crossing our border?
