It finally looks like ICE is getting back to work. After days of sitting on their hands and letting criminals roam free, immigration agents are once again making traffic stops. Why the sudden change? Apparently, it took President Trump himself to push them back toward doing the job the American people expect of them. But, as always, there’s a catch.
Earlier this week, big government bureaucrats decided to put the brakes on traffic stops. Why? Because two foreign nationals — not citizens, not Americans — allegedly tried to run over ICE agents when they were being detained. Instead of cracking down harder on dangerous illegal behavior, officials pumped the brakes and abandoned one of their most effective tools for keeping our streets safe. Only in upside-down, left-wing world does law enforcement back down after being attacked — all in the name of “safety” and “sensitivity.”
It’s standard procedure from the liberal playbook: let illegal immigrants flout the law, and then scream “injustice” when someone tries to enforce it. Now, after pressure from a President who actually cares about American safety, ICE is being pushed to get back to doing what works — stopping vehicles, checking papers, and finding those who have no business being here in the first place. Yet it’s clear that some higher-ups are more worried about bad optics than real results. The moment things get risky, the left wants agents to hide. They forget that these are the same foreign nationals who would gladly put Americans at risk to escape the consequences of breaking the law.
If we let every criminal dictate how officers do their job, what’s left of law and order in this country? Criminals shouldn’t call the shots. Lawless activists and open borders cheerleaders have made a mess of immigration enforcement, and it’s only thanks to a determined White House that we’re seeing even the slightest shift toward common-sense policies. Make no mistake, every time ICE backs off, the message to future law-breakers is loud and clear: America is a soft target.
Here’s the truth liberals refuse to see — halting traffic stops is a green light for chaos. Getting tough is the only path forward. ICE officers deserve our support, and the American people deserve leaders who put their safety first, not foreign lawbreakers. Maybe the next time bureaucrats are tempted to go soft, they’ll ask themselves just whose side they’re really on.
How much more lawlessness has to happen before someone in Washington actually takes the side of everyday Americans?
