If Americans needed another reminder about the double standards in Washington, just look at the latest mess from the Arizona Democrat Senator, Ruben Gallego. The left constantly shouts about “protecting women” and “workplace respect,” but when it comes to their own power brokers, suddenly the rules no longer apply. Gallego recently admitted to having sexual relationships with not one, but two congressional staffers back when he was in the House. Seems like the Democrats believe “consent” covers up just about anything—so long as it’s their own team doing the dirty work.
Of course, no one in the mainstream media is clutching their pearls or calling for accountability this time. Swap out the party label and imagine the outrage if this were a Republican Senator. There would be wall-to-wall coverage, angry think pieces, and endless calls to resign. But for liberals, personal responsibility only counts if they can score points against their political enemies. When it’s their own, corruption and questionable behavior turn into shrugged-off “private matters.”
This is the same party that never misses a chance to lecture Americans about morality from up on their high horse. Yet here we are, finding out a sitting senator helped himself to a couple of staffers like it was just business as usual. The left never hesitates to drag conservatives through the mud for far less. But when a Democrat crosses every ethical boundary in the book, they fall back on “the relationships were consensual” and look the other way.
The American people see through this sham. These so-called “public servants” act more like entitled celebrities—believing they’re above the rules forced on everyone else. While hardworking Americans struggle under inflation, high taxes, and worthless border security, the Democrat elite indulge every whim and count on their media allies to cover it up. The left would rather protect their own than stand up for real American values.
Isn’t it time for the Democrats to stop hiding behind slogans and start cleaning up their own house? Or is the hypocrisy the real point—rules for you, but never for them?
