Hollywood star lands top judicial role as crime spikes is New York justice now a joke

Is this a court or a casting call? New York’s top judge just handed Cynthia Nixon—a Hollywood actress best known for playing a lawyer on TV—a real seat at the table where judges for the Empire State’s highest court are picked. Most Americans expect folks in these positions to actually know something about the law. Instead, New York is now treating the justice system like some ridiculous sequel to a liberal fairy tale.

While crime surges and families worry if their neighborhoods are safe, this state’s leaders are busy putting progressive activists in positions of real power. Nixon has zero legal education and no experience in court. But that didn’t stop Chief Judge Rowan Wilson from choosing her for a commission that decides who will serve on New York’s Court of Appeals. It’s almost as if the Democrat machine cares more about woke credentials than real world qualifications.

Make no mistake—being famous for playing a clever character on a cable show is not the same as having the wisdom or backbone needed to judge real cases. Every other member of this powerful commission is a practicing lawyer. Yet, for the sake of liberal optics, the rules get tossed aside and someone without so much as a law degree gets to help shape New York justice. This is the same kind of virtue-signaling that got progressive cities into the mess they’re in—prioritizing politics over public safety every time.

This isn’t just silly. It’s dangerous. When lawmakers and judges pick their friends, donors, or celebrity pals instead of top legal minds, hard-working New Yorkers pay the price. This move is proof that the left is more interested in making headlines and pushing globalist agendas than protecting the rule of law. The only thing “inclusive” about this decision is the collective eye roll from anyone who actually cares about justice.

The big question now: how many people have to suffer from these reckless choices before leaders put competence above celebrity? The court system is not a reality show, but New York liberals keep treating it like one—America deserves better.
