NYC Socialists Say You Have No Right to Build Wealth or Succeed

It seems the socialist left in New York City just can’t stop tripping over their own feet. Now, we have the local Democratic Socialists of America co-chair coming out to remind everyday Americans that, in their eyes, you don’t deserve to enjoy success. Apparently, working hard, saving money, and investing for your family’s future is now some kind of sin in socialist New York. If you make a smart investment and it pays off? Guess what—the far-left says you have no right to profit from it, and “double-digit returns” are off-limits. That’s the new gospel from the DSA. Move over, American Dream. Here comes the Socialist Nightmare.

This is the kind of thinking you get when Marxist talking points replace real-world experience. These socialist leaders, who love to talk about “fairness,” are happy to take away the rewards that drive innovation and entrepreneurship. They claim profit isn’t in the Constitution, while ignoring that the whole point of America’s founding was freedom—freedom to own property, to build wealth, to pursue happiness as you see fit. But according to the New York DSA, only bureaucrats and activists can decide what returns are “ethical.” If government-approved mediocrity is all you chase, then New York is building your utopia.

It’s the latest episode of liberal hypocrisy. Socialists love lecturing Americans about what they “deserve.” But how many politicians and DSA activists are living off generous trust funds and cushy nonprofit jobs—jobs paid for by, you guessed it, private investments, donations, and the profit-driven engine of capitalism? Their world runs on capitalism’s back, but they’re the first to sneer at the Americans actually building things, risking their savings, and trying to create a better life for their children. If double-digit returns are somehow immoral, how come those same activists never seem to turn down big raises or campaign checks?

There’s also a globalist lie tucked in this anti-profit nonsense. Whenever politicians start telling you your hard work “doesn’t count,” it’s because they want the government, the UN, or their activist pals to control your destiny. The real problem, of course, isn’t profit—it’s that socialists in power can’t stand individuals making their own choices, and never miss a chance to punish success unless it lines their own pockets.

The next time you hear a socialist complain about the “right” to profit, ask yourself: Who benefits if Americans have to beg for permission to win at their own game? It sure isn’t the families trying to get ahead. Maybe the real “crime” isn’t making money—it’s believing the American Dream is still worth fighting for.
