There was a time in America when owning books wasn’t just about looking smart—it meant opportunity, ambition, and real self-improvement. Take a step back. For centuries, having books at home helped kids break into the middle class. Reading shaped doctors, lawyers, and leaders. They love preaching about “access to information” while children scroll themselves into oblivion. Look at what’s replaced real reading. It’s not just e-books, it’s the endless distraction of apps, games, and social media. Kids brag today about mastering a new filter, not finishing “War and Peace.” Who gains from this? Big Tech billionaires and leftist educators who’d rather raise a passive, screen-addicted population than people who can think for themselves. The left may mock old-fashioned values all they want, but the data shows reading real books builds better brains and sharper minds—exactly what the elites fear.
It wasn’t always this way. Not so long ago, even working-class families scraped together enough for a set of encyclopedias. And real charity—like Dolly Parton’s book program—meant bringing reading home, not just virtue-signaling on social media. Compare that to the shallow world liberals and globalists want, where “content” scrolls by faster than anyone can process it and real wisdom is drowned out by rage and clickbait. The collapse of home libraries isn’t an accident—it’s the result of misguided priorities, lazy parenting, and the relentless drive to dumb us down.
Sure, technology isn’t going away, but why should conservatives accept the erasure of critical thinking as the cost of progress?
