America needs doctors who are the best, brightest, and most prepared—not just boxes ticked on a diversity spreadsheet. But the left-wing administrators at UC San Diego’s School of Medicine are doing the exact opposite. They’re stacking the deck by putting race over merit, dragging the standards even lower than before, all in the name of “equity.” And now, finally, Trump’s Justice Department is stepping in to put a stop to this madness.
Here’s the ugly truth: While the Supreme Court made it clear that race-based admissions are illegal, these liberal universities just changed the game. UC San Diego cooked up a new system—one that uses “hardship” as a sneaky code for getting more black and Hispanic students into their medical school, even if their grades and test scores are way behind. Who gets left behind? Hardworking Asian and white students, many of them from poor, broken homes who pushed through serious adversity—only to get pushed aside because they weren’t the right color for today’s DEI obsessions.
Administrators at UCSD openly use terms like “underrepresented minorities,” which is just fancy talk for picking winners and losers by skin color. They’ve created a process that sorts people not by intellect, not by actual achievement, but by whether their background “checks a box” for the university’s so-called diversity agenda. They admit more students from the lowest academic bands, so long as they wrote the right hardship essay, favoring certain groups over others. If that isn’t blatant discrimination, what is?
Let’s get real: Hardship and perseverance matter. But pretending that those traits somehow outweigh proven intelligence and academic excellence, especially for doctors, is crazy. Would you trust your health to a surgeon chosen because of an essay, not their talent? Nobody serious would ever say “give me the doctor who just barely got by”—unless they’re a woke academic pushing a political agenda instead of real standards. America’s best and brightest are getting shut out because schools are chasing social justice fantasies rather than preparing the next generation of lifesavers.
This isn’t just bad policy. It’s an insult to every kid who studied late, crushed the MCATs, and actually EARNED their place. And it’s dangerous for patients who expect, and deserve, the very best. When “equity” trumps excellence, everybody pays the price. Will the left ever admit their delusions are hurting real Americans—or is victimhood the only credential that counts in Joe Biden’s America?
