For years, liberals have sold the lie that hiking taxes on the rich and on businesses is some magic bullet to fund all their pet projects. The reality? The more government gouges Americans with higher rates, the more capital packs its bags and heads for friendlier shores. Just look at the mass exodus from high-tax states like California. In a single year, over 54,000 people ditched Los Angeles County for low-tax Florida. They were tired of bloated tax bills, sky-high regulations, and rampant crime—ironically, all the rotten fruits of progressive policy.
Meanwhile, China is eating America’s lunch on the world stage. Global competition has never been fiercer. Yet while Chinese leadership slashes taxes to keep capital at home, American leftists demand more redistribution—jacking up rates just in time to hand our economic future right into Beijing’s hands. The Biden crowd and their globalist elite donors are so blinded by their obsession with “fairness,” they’re willing to make the nation uncompetitive just to score political points with their base.
It gets even worse. When taxes go up, wealthy people and corporations don’t just quietly fork over more cash. They hire armies of accountants, exploit every loophole, or simply move operations offshore. Is it any wonder why we keep hearing about jobs and money fleeing to tax havens in the Middle East, or manufacturing plants popping up in Asia? Who in their right mind would gamble billions on a country more interested in robbing success than rewarding it?
What liberals never admit is that soaking the rich rarely lines government coffers the way they dream. That’s the simplest truth behind the Laffer Curve—a basic principle that every business owner understands, but most politicians willfully ignore. There’s a point where raising taxes brings in more money, sure. But keep pushing the rates higher, and you kill job creation, scare off investors, and ultimately shrink the tax base until everyone ends up with less—including the government itself!
Instead of playing politics with America’s prosperity, real leaders should focus on growing the pie for everyone. That means lower, smarter taxes and a simplified code anyone can understand. Build a tax regime that invites capital and talent to stay, not run for the exits. The Left’s obsession with soaking the rich is not about helping the country. It’s about securing votes and expanding government power, plain and simple.
Isn’t it time Americans took a hard look at the failed promises of progressive tax schemes? If liberal politicians are so convinced that higher taxes will save the country, why does every place run by the Left seem to end up broke, empty, and desperate for people to stay?
