The world of woke academia has suffered another self-inflicted wound, and no one in the ivory towers wants to talk about it. Jason Arday, a former professor at the University of Cambridge, is now gone—just days after resigning in disgrace. He wasn’t some minor figure. He was celebrated as a rising star, but behind all the puff pieces and virtue signaling, there were dark clouds no one on the Left cared to expose.
What took Arday down wasn’t “systemic oppression,” as fashionable liberals like to whine about. It was old-fashioned dishonesty. Allegations of plagiarism, academic fraud, and even fabricating parts of his own life story forced him to step down. This is what happens when universities focus more on checking boxes and chasing identity politics than on actual integrity and hard work.
The liberal education machine loves to prop up certain professors as champions of “equity” and “justice.” They lecture Americans about privilege and colonialism while hiding behind the safety of tenure and taxpayer dollars. But when their “heroes” fall, these institutions scramble to sweep the dirt under the rug. Where were the fact-checkers? Where was the outrage over faked credentials—something conservatives would be crucified for at the drop of a hat?
Let’s not pretend this is just one man’s downfall. The scandal exposes a deeply rotten culture in higher education. We see it every day: globalist interests twisting standards, universities hiring based on activism instead of achievement, students learning more about how to spot microaggressions than how to build a career. It’s no wonder trust in academia is at an all-time low. The Left created this mess—and it’s clear they have no idea how to clean it up.
How many more “elite” professors will be exposed before these failed institutions admit they’re broken? Americans are sick of the hypocrisy, the cover-ups, and the constant attacks on our values. If this is what passes for leadership among intellectuals, maybe it’s time we stop listening to them altogether.
