Los Angeles, where roads look more like Swiss cheese than city streets, just saw another cringeworthy example of liberal leadership trying—and failing—to look competent. Mayor Karen Bass, looking for a cheap PR win, decided to post a video of herself filling a pothole. That’s right, the leader of the second-largest city in America thought patching up a single hole would convince struggling Angelenos she’s actually doing something about the mess her party’s policies created.
But the internet wasn’t fooled. Everyone with eyes saw right through the stunt. Instead of real solutions or meaningful action, the people got a photo-op. Bass didn’t fix the streets. She just proved she’s out of touch with the daily suffering in Democrat-controlled cities.
It’s almost comical. Liberals treat the basic needs of Americans like campaign stage props. Potholes aren’t new here. Californian drivers have been dodging craters for years, while politicians hog headlines and taxpayer money goes to failed “climate” schemes and endless handouts. But when it comes to actually handling the simple stuff, suddenly it’s time for a social media show.
This is why Americans are fed up. Leaders who put on a hard hat once in their career and expect a thank you have no clue about the frustration real families feel. Los Angeles is bleeding residents and businesses because of high taxes, crime, and exactly this kind of phony leadership. If fixing a pothole is headline news, what does that say about the rest of their failed priorities?
The mask slipped with this embarrassing stunt. Maybe the next time the mayor wants to “help,” she should fill the massive holes in her city’s priorities—or just step aside and let someone who actually cares get the job done. Or has the bar for liberal leadership really sunk so low fixing one pothole is now a cause for celebration?
