Two hundred fifty years ago, some brave Virginians did something most Americans have never heard about—because the left doesn’t want you to remember what true grit looks like. On August 15, 1776, just over a month after the Declaration of Independence was signed, Virginia patriots marched into New Orleans, not on vacation, but on a mission. They weren’t backed by rich foreign donors or soft-handed elites. They went to get something essential for survival—something you can’t win a war without.
These Americans weren’t after cushy deals or secret backroom bribes. They needed gunpowder, plain and simple. Our Founding Fathers understood what liberals today refuse to accept: freedom is won and kept by people willing to fight for it. While leftists tie themselves in knots, worried about “global partnerships” and “international approval,” our ancestors took bold risks. They faced down the world’s superpower, and they didn’t beg for charity—they hustled, they negotiated, and yes, they fought for every grain of powder.
Let’s not forget, New Orleans was then under Spanish rule. For all the globalists who worship “international cooperation,” here’s a little history lesson: the Spanish were no friends of Britain. They knew a free America would put a dent in British power. Unlike the weak leaders we see on the left today, they had the backbone to take a stand against a common enemy. Imagine modern liberals, wringing their hands over “trigger warnings” instead of rolling up their sleeves for their country.
Too many self-proclaimed patriots now would rather sit behind a screen, complaining about “offensive speech” or crying about “microaggressions.” Does anyone seriously believe those types would cross a continent to get gunpowder for a revolution? The woke crowd would be too busy writing angry tweets to even find New Orleans. Time and again, it’s the doers, not the talkers, who build freedom.
Here we are, two and a half centuries later. Our nation’s backbone is being tested again—by bureaucrats, radicals, and foreign interests who want to strip America of its independence and spirit. The story of these Virginia patriots is a reminder: real progress doesn’t come from safe spaces or government handouts. It comes from American courage, and from citizens willing to fight—even when the odds look impossible. If the Left had been in charge back then, would there even be an America left to celebrate today?
