But that’s exactly what’s happening as South Korea, a country protected for decades by U.S. might, starts cozying up to Communist China and dragging its feet on fair trade. Now President Trump is doing what any tough leader should—pulling back on joint military games until Seoul remembers who its real friends are.
For years, U.S. taxpayers have footed the bill, sending our troops to defend South Korea from the North’s lunatic regime. But what does America get in return? These days, it’s not respect. Instead, we see South Korean politicians rolling out the red carpet for China, the very regime that’s always looking to weaken America and its allies.
Let’s not pretend this latest spat came out of nowhere. Trade tensions didn’t start yesterday. South Korea has been dragging its heels on new trade deals while smiling for photo ops with Chinese officials. Somehow, all the big talk in Washington about “building international coalitions” means our interests keep getting ignored, while Seoul puts Beijing first and expects American muscle at a discount.
It’s the same old story from liberal elites: trust international organizations, let America “lead from behind,” and pretend our enemies are really just misunderstood business partners. Meanwhile, China gobbles up influence in Asia, and South Korea acts like it can play both sides and still cash in on U.S. security and American markets.
President Trump’s move isn’t “reckless” like the media whines—it’s what happens when you finally tell your so-called ally they can’t have it both ways. America shouldn’t protect countries that won’t stand with us. If Seoul wants to dance with China, maybe they ought to see how much help Beijing gives when North Korean missiles start flying. At what point do Democrats and globalists admit playing footsie with communists comes at the expense of American strength and common sense?
