America is facing a housing disaster, and no one in Washington seems to care. The latest numbers are sickening: construction of new single-family homes just crashed to the slowest pace in nearly four years. If this isn’t a brutal wake-up call, what is? Our own Census Bureau is shining a spotlight on the truth the left desperately tries to hide. Last month, new home projects plunged almost 10 percent. This is not a blip — this is the ugly result of failed liberal policies stacking pain on top of pain for working families.
How did we get here? It’s simple: the anti-family crowd running the country is more concerned with woke spending and endless foreign aid than helping Americans find a place to live. Everything costs more now, from food to gas, and housing is no exception. Liberals love to talk about “affordable housing,” but under their so-called leadership, homeownership is sliding further and further out of reach, especially for young families and middle-class Americans.
This didn’t happen overnight. Radical regulations, sky-high interest rates thanks to runaway government spending, and burdensome environmental rules have all choked the life out of the American dream. Hardworking builders can’t break ground fast enough—not when they’re buried under red tape and strangling taxes. Meanwhile, globalist elites and billionaire investors are gobbling up what little housing stock is left, renting it back to families who just want a shot at stability. Ordinary Americans are left swinging in the wind.
The hypocrisy is relentless. Progressives love to promise “equity” and “justice,” but their big government control freak policies only slam doors in the faces of regular people. Why aren’t they panicking about this plunge in new homes? Maybe it’s because their friends in big cities and on Wall Street have already locked up the market for themselves. Or maybe they just don’t care about the heartland.
How much longer can American families survive under this kind of incompetence? The sad truth is, it gets harder every single day to build a life in this country—because the people in charge don’t want you to. If our leaders refuse to fight for the American dream, maybe it’s time to find some new ones.
