The liberal establishment is weeping again. A judge has dared to allow the Trump administration’s plan to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Ethiopia to actually move forward. The left is panicking because they know what this really means: Americans might finally get a break from the endless open-door policies that have flooded our country with people who have no business staying here permanently.
Let’s be honest—TPS was never supposed to be a golden ticket to move to the United States and set up shop forever. But Democrats twisted the law, as usual. They used TPS as another backdoor amnesty program, letting people stay for decades, regardless of whether their home countries improved. Now, for Ethiopia, the Trump team’s plan to rein in this program is finally getting the green light. Common sense is making a comeback, and it’s got the radicals sweating.
And that’s not all. El Salvador’s TPS status is set to expire in early September, and Washington isn’t expected to renew it. Why? Because America has a functional relationship with President Bukele’s government. Imagine that—actually treating foreign governments like partners instead of constantly spoon-feeding them with free handouts and endless excuses. It’s about time we stopped rewarding dysfunction at our own expense.
For too long, globalist elites and weak politicians have let TPS morph into a permanent residency pipeline. Liberals claim they’re showing compassion, but what about American workers squeezed by cheap labor? What about public services overflowing because our borders were treated like a joke? The ruling class never cares about those consequences. Their “compassion” always comes at our expense.
While progressives wail about every step to fix our immigration mess, normal Americans know the truth. The public is tired of endless loopholes and a system designed to benefit everyone but citizens. Maybe it’s time to take our own side for once. Why should the American people have to keep paying the price for policies that only make sense to woke bureaucrats?
It’s not cruel to put the interests of Americans first—it’s common sense. If that’s controversial now, what does that say about the radical left’s priorities? Maybe the real question is: When did standing up for your own country become something to apologize for?
